History of English

Used as the presentatiion part of a vocabulary lesson. I took the idea from Mario Vinvulucri's book 'Dictation'; A quick history of the English Language(I didnt use all the slides just the early ones) leads to a dictation exercise; students have to put the words projected on the board into different catagories ie Viking/Norse/Norman/Anglo Saxon/Latin /French. These words were given as examples in the presentation I am lucky in having a digi projector with broadband internet linked computer in the classroom. It makes the preparation and presentation of materials so much more interesting and varied and also cuts down on the use of paper.(but increases the use of electricity so.... swings and roundabouts)
